Programs and Related Services

The term “special education” means instruction and services that are specially designed to meet the needs of a particular child with a disability. It can include: Instruction conducted in the classroom, in the home, in hospitals and institutions, and in other settings and Instruction in physical education and vocational education.

Columbia Community Unit School District offers a wide variety of services to meet the needs of our diverse learners. Our students are provided services specific to his/her needs, goals and objectives, and his/her individualized education plans. Depending on the student’s individual needs, the services may be provided in the general education classroom or the special education classroom. The amount of services each student receives is dictated by his/her individualized education plan.
